Janine Graham

Samares Botanical Gardens, Jersey
Artist-in-Residence (2024–2025)
Samares Botanical Gardens are deeply personal to Janine, forming part of her lived landscape and creative memory. Having grown up in the surrounding neighbourhood, the gardens hold a long-standing emotional and visual connection, making the residency both a professional and personal milestone.
During this residency, Janine focused primarily on trees, developing and refining her techniques through drawing, painting, and observation. Alongside this, she produced numerous sketches and studies of the gardens’ architecture and animals, responding to the layered histories and rhythms of the site.
This period of sustained engagement supported the development of works within the Sentinel Trees series, alongside broader investigations into structure, growth, and endurance within cultivated landscapes.
